Cagnes-sur-Mer : a mixed of pleasures

An attractive destination at the heart of the French Riviera (between Nice and Cannes), Cagnes-sur-Mer invites you to discover its authentic medieval village, but also its small picturesque fishing port and its Renoir Museum nestled in a magnificent estate planted with ancient olive trees. Rocked by the waves under the sun of the Mediterranean, Cagnes-sur-Mer is a city with multiple faces which carries you away to the rhythm of its celebrations and events (Voices of the Renoir’s land, Medieval Festival…), its colorful markets, its numerous water sports and seaside facilities, its horse racing season… which all contribute to make Cagnes-sur-Mer an important stop on the French Riviera.

The Haut-de-Cagnes, the picturesque village

Situated at the top of the castle hill, is the oldest district of the current city of Cagnes-sur-Mer, and after the 1999 census, the number of Inhabitants reached 43,800. 640 inhabitants had chosen to live in this district which was declared as "historic" in 1948. This district kept the calmness of a village life, outside the lively rhythm of the big cities of the French Riviera. Everything works towards holding back the visitor who is looking for authenticity: the patina of time, stones charged of history, shaded, narrow and flowered little streets, unusual points of view on the Mediterranean and the Mercantour.

More than 3,500 meters of beaches...

This old village of fishermen became in 1971 a seaside resort with dynamic leisure’s. It offers to people in love with the sea more than 3.5 km of public and private beaches. Today, if our "Cros-de-Cagnes" attracts more the holiday-makers by its nautical and tourist activities than by its fishing activity, it however preserved a multitude of traditional shops privileging the reception, the contact and the "speech of the country". You will discover in Cros-de-Cagnes, the Place Saint-Pierre, which is always very bustling and delivered to bowls players, the "rue des Oliviers" recently renovated which allows the visitors to do shoping and their market, as well as many restaurants of quality.
